Vietnam compliance for food, beverage and supplement brands

MOHVFAMOITMARD
The regulatory framework

Vietnam's food and supplement framework involves three ministries: the Ministry of Health (MOH) through the Vietnam Food Administration (VFA), the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) for processed food and beverages, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD). Announcement-based compliance (công bố hợp quy) is required before market entry, and new contaminant regulations for health supplements (QCVN 20-1:2024/BYT) came into effect August 2025.

On roadmap

Vietnam's three-ministry framework, covering food, beverages and supplements, is one of the most misunderstood in SEA.
