South Korea compliance for food, beverage and supplement brands

MFDSFood CodeHFF Act
The regulatory framework

South Korea regulates food and beverages under the Food Sanitation Act and Food Code, and health functional foods under the Health Functional Foods Act, both administered by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS). Food and drink face additive and labelling rules; functional products may only carry health claims using approved ingredients with established daily intake ranges. Foreign brands must appoint a local responsible person and file an import report before market entry.

On roadmap

Korea's positive-list ingredient system and strict claim framework, across food, beverages and functional products, is one of the most structured in Asia.
